Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Generating conversational gestures are important for many applications such as CG animation and computer games. In the conventional method, the synthesized gestures look mechanical because motion-level transition and linkage between gesture motions are not considered. In this paper, we propose the composite gesture synthesis method using continuity and linkage between gesture motions. We construct two kinds of networks representing continuity and linkage of gesture motions. These gesture networks are referenced during gesture planning process, and possible combinations of gestures are generated. By using our method, more human-like gestures are generated such as attaching one hand to the waist and the other hand is pointing to something.
