Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes an improved method for tracking a bronchosope by combining image registration and a positional sensor. The proposed method utilizes a positional sensor at the tip of a bronchoscope. The outputs from the sensor are used as initial guess of image registration between real and virtual bronchosopic images. This combination improves perfomance of bronchoscopic camera tracking. We have evaluated the combined method by using a bronchial phantom. Virtual breathing motion is added to the outputs of the sensor to simulate real lung motion. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can satisfactorily track bronchoscopic camera motion and image registration compensates shifts of sensor's outputs caused by breathing motion.
