Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) One of the primary factors of misrecognition in offline handwritten Chinese characters is due to the overlapped strokes. There are several ways to recover the characteristics from the overlapped strokes section. however only for printed characters. First we defined the overlapped strokes and a method to detect them, and then investigated the statistics of the overlapped strokes determined by this method. Next, we proposed the recovery method of the overlapped strokes, and optimized the parameters used in the method. At last, the recovery method of overlapped strokes was applied to all of the offline Chinese characters from ETL-9B database.
