Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are now developing a prototype translation system from Japanese to Japanese sign language text. In sign languages, syntactic and semantic information may be represented by modulations of manual and/or non-manual features. This causes the meanings of sign language texts constructed only from sequences of sign identifiers (glosses) to be ambiguous. To prevent this ambiguity, our translation system generates texts that such syntactic information is encoded into. In this report, we describe the translation system and a translation experiment on it using simple Japanese sentences.
