Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Ytteribium ion(Yb^+) is one of the candidates used in new frequency standards, because Yb^+ has clock transitions and can be laser cooled. In this study, we aim to develop a semiconductor laser of narrow linewidth for driving the S_<1/2>-D_<5/2> transition of Yb^+. We set up an external-cavity laser diode(ECLD) and the device for reducing the linewidth of the laser. From the beat signal of the two independent linen-arrowed lasers, we estimated that the linewidth was reduced to 10kHz for each laser.
