Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We report the gain characteristics of hybrid fiber amplifiers consisting of cascaded TDFA and EDFA. The amplifiers had high gain ranging in wavelength from 1460-1560 nm. The noise figure of less than 7 dB was achieved in the wavelength region from 1460 - 1540 nm by using the TDFA in the first stage followed by the EDFA, and from 1480 - 1560 nm by the EDFA followed by the TDFA. The gain equalized fiber amplifiers we constructed achieved an average gain of 20 dB, a gain excursion of less than 2 dB, an output powerof14.5 dBm, and a NF of less than 7 dB.
