Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems using 40-Gbit/s directly-modulated semiconductor lasers enable high-capacity transmission with a simple and low-cost configuration for metro applications. A 40-Gbit/s four-channel dense WDM experiment with a 100-GHz spacing using directly-modulated 1.55-μm distributed feedback laser diodes (DFB-LDs) is demonstrated. 4 x 40 Gbit/s transmission over 40-km single-mode fiber (SMF) was achieved.
