Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There have been known two amplitude instabilities in harmonically mode-locked fiber ring lasers: one is the long term instability due to temperature change, and the other is the short term instability such as supermode noise. In this paper, we numerically show a novel the short term instability caused by the optical bandpath filter inserted into laser cavity. In numerical analyses, we assume that wavepacket in the cavity fiber follows the Ginzburg-Landau equation, and solve the equation to calculate the evolution during one round-trip by using Split-step Fourier method. The calculated wavepacket is used as the initial amplitude of the next round-trip. We study the effect of Lorenz filters, and investigate the influence on the pulse stability in terms of unsaturation gain of fiber and filter bandwidth. It is predicted that the stable operation restricts the available filter bandwidth; even when stabilized, the pulse amplitude will show a stochastic variation. We also study the effect of secondary Bessel filter, and predict that the restriction on the filter bandwidth will be relaxed, and that the pulse amplitude in a stable operation will show little fluctuation.
