Engineering Issues of High-Dimensional Multimedia Mining behind Real Problems

Abstract(in English) In retrieval or mining of high-dimensional multimedia database, it is much costly in terms of computation to discard majority of data which is unnecessary, rather than to retrieve extremely few data which should be sieved out. Therefore, it is one of the very important engineering issues how to discard majority of unnecessary information with as light as possible computation, especially in optimizing the overall performance of practical systems. In this paper, we will introduce our research challenges as related topics to the above mentioned issues, including high-dimensional indexing stuructures, face detection, and broadcast video mining. Through these attempts, we will try to define important engineering issues in high-dimensional multimedia mining, and to address their solutions.
