Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fractal coding is based on the assumption of self-affinity. In image coding, blocks of an image can be approximated by extracting larger blocks from elsewhere in the image. For that reason, in the plane with a homogeneous texture pattern, a front image can code more efficiently than the inclined image. In this paper, we examine the index of coding efficiency when performing image compression with fractal picture coding. And then, we propose an algorithm to estimate the plane orientation. Through various experiments with generated images and real images, we confirmed our method is effective.
