Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Interpretation of sentence depends on its context. Interpretation of utterances depends on the context; that is, the contextual information is necessary to properly deal with ambiguous utterances. This paper describes how to disambiguate syntactic ambiguity by referring to the context. In order to refer to the context, the contextual information must be stored in a form that can be compared to the meaning of utterances. Our previous works proposed a framework for semantic representations in which the meaning of any predicate is converted into a semantic representation permitting only a single type of predicate (an identifying predicate "aru") and the contextual information is stored as a set of "attribute-value" pairs. Accordingly, ,we can compare the meaning of utterances by referring to the attribute-value pairs. Our system generates as many candidate trees as possible and chooses from the candidates by referring to the context. The process is applied each time a new word is introduced into a tree. |
