Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper we present coupled two ring counters. The system can exhibit the following interesting phenomena: (1) generation of periodic pulse-trains having various pulse intervals; (2) co-existence of multiple periodic pulse-trains for an initial state; and (3) transition to periodic pulse-trains. These phenomena can be analyzed by a pulse position map having a discrete state. Using a pulse position modulation, the periodic pulse-train is coded by a digital sequence. By adjusting system parameters, the system can realize binary and Gray codings of the pulse-train. Towards FPGA implementation, we present an implementation method of the system having variable parameters. Then the system dynamics is analyzed by a VHDL simulation. We also consider parallel dynamics of the system.
