Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents experimental results on space diversity effect in MIMO channel transmissions using VSF-Spread OFDM radio access achieving the maximum data rate of 1 Gbps with 100-MHz channel bandwidth. The experimental results elucidates that in the frequency efficiency of less than approximately 2 bits/second/Hz, MIMO diversity can increase the measured throughout compared to MIMO multiplexing owing to the high transmit space diversity effect. In the higher frequency efficiency case, however, MIMO multiplexing is superior to MIMO diversity since the higher data modulation and channel coding rate in the MIMO diversity overcomes space diversity effect. It is also clarified that receiver space diversity effect is very effectual in MIMO multiplexing using QRM-MLD signal detection. Finally, we demonstrates that the real-time packet transmission of greater than 1 Gbps in a 100-MHz channel bandwidth (i.e., 10 bits/second/Hz) is achieved at the average received signal energy per bit-to-background noise power spectrum density ratio (E_b/N_0) per receiver antenna of approximately 12.0 dB using 16QAM modulation and Turbo coding with the coding rate of 8/9 in 4-by-4 OFDM multiplexing.
