A Novel Approach for Opportunistic Beamforming with Packet Cellular Systems

Abstract(in English) We propose the random beamforming algorithm to generate a weight vector in downlink of packet cellular systems. The random beamforming has attracted the attention as a mean of increasing channel fluctuation to exploit multiuser diversity with simple transmit beamforming which varies the weight vector randomly. We especially note the random beamforming can improve SINR of mobile stations who remain stationary in the edge of the cell to decrease inter-cell interference when the mobile stations are scheduled. In order to improve further, we propose to add a phase speed fluctuating function to the conventional phase variation of the weight vector in a constant phase speed. The phase speed fluctuating function varies the phase speed randomly and increases independence between the fluctuations of the SINR received at MS from BSs included the adjacent ones. From simulation results we confirm that the MS throughput with the proposed algorithm is improved better than that of the conventional method.
