Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, we have proposed a multi-hop virtual cellular network (VCN), which consists of a central port (a gateway to the core network) and many distributed wireless ports in each virtual cell (VC), for reducing the transmit power in broadband DS-CDMA mobile communications systems. Each mobile terminal simultaneously communicates with surrounding wireless ports. For mobility management, the mobile terminal location registration is essential. To reduce the location registration control message traffic, we introduce a distributed mobility management scheme, in which the central port supports the intra-VC mobility management and the control station in the core network supports the inter-VC mobility management. The location data in the control station is updated only when a mobile terminal crosses the VC area boundary. This scheme can significantly reduce the location registration traffic.
