Effect of Frequency-domain Pre-equalization on MC-CDMA/TDD Uplink Using Multi-level Modulation

Abstract(in English) In the multi carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) uplink (mobile-to-base), since different users' signals go through different frequency-selective fading channels, the use of frequency-domain equalization at a receiver can only partially restore the orthogonality property among different users' signals and therefore, the bit error ratio (BER) performance severely degrades due to large multi-access interference (MAI). Generalized minimum mean square error (GMMSE) frequency-domain ore-equalization transmission, which authors recently proposed, can achieve better BER performance than the MMSE frequency-domain equalization reception. However, when using higher-level data modulations, the influence of MAI becomes severer. In this paper, we evaluate by computer simulation the achievable BER performance using GMMSE frequency-domain pre-equalization transmission for MC-CDMA/TDD uplink with QPSK, 16 QAM and 64 QAM data modulations.
