Effect of Frequency-domain Packet Scheduling in Forward Link Spread OFDM Broadband Packet Wireless Access

Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the effect of frequency-domain packet scheduling to obtain multi-user diversity effect for Spread OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) wireless access in forward link broadband multipath fading channel. Simulation results show that, by applying frequency-domain packet scheduling in addition to time-domain scheduling using Maximum CIR method, the increase in sector throughput from that with time-domain scheduling only is approximately 5%, when the bandwidth of the frequency block is much larger than that of coherence bandwidth for the continuous data traffic model without delay requirement. Meanwhile, in the same conditions, the increase in the throughput using frequency-domain packet scheduling becomes approximately 15-20%, when the bandwidth of the frequency block is not more than the coherent bandwidth (48-path Rayleigh fading channel with root mean squared delay spread = 0.34 μsec).
