Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes list sphere decoding (LSD) using adaptive selection of surviving symbol replica candidates in order to reduce the number of branch metric calculations for OFDM MIMO multiplexing. In the proposed algorithm, newly added symbol replica candidates are ranked by quadrant detection and then, Euclidian distance is calculated only for symbol-replica candidates with smaller branch metric compared with sphere radius, T, resulting in the remarkable reduction in computational complexity. Computer simulation results show that the average number of multiplications per frame for signal separation as the computational complexity for the proposed LSD with adaptive selection of surviving symbol replica candidates is decreased to approximately 17 % that of the original LSD for both methods the identical achievable average packet error rate (PER) performance at the information bit rate of 1.048 Gbps by 16QAM modulation and Turbo coding with the coding rate of 8/9 in 4-by-4 MIMO multiplexing with a 100-MHz bandwidth (a twelve-path Rayleigh fading channel, root mean squared (r.m.s.) delay spread of 0.26 μsec, maximum Doppler frequency of 20 Hz). |
