Abstract(in English) In an FDD system, a base station (BS) has to send back the channel information in order to apply a transmit diversity at a mobile station (MS). In this case, we have to modify the specification of the existing system to apply it. Even though the signal format could be modified, the channel capacity falls due to sending extra control information. In this paper, we propose a method that realizes antenna selection transmit diversity without modifying the signal format, by referring to a transmit power control bit (TPC bit) from the BS. The proposed scheme significantly decreases the average transmit power at the MS and shows robustness against the BER performance degradation compared with the conventional scheme.
