Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Time Division Duplex (TDD) has been attracting much attention for its capability of flexible and efficient usage of frequency resources in transferring highly asymmetric and bursty data traffic. TDD has another advantage of frequency block allocations over Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) because TDD does not require a pair of frequency blocks, which is indispensable for FDD. Taking account of these advantages of TDD, a broadband Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) system with multi-hop mesh network architecture, which we have been developing, also adopts TDD with a variable TDD boundary mechanism. A conventional TDD boundary decision method determines TDD boundary so as to divide time slots in proportion to queue lengths. This paper shows simulation study results on one Point-to-Point (P-P) wireless link and reveals that what are advantages and disadvantages of the conventional method and the method where TDD boundary is fixed, in terms of packet loss and queuing delay as a performance measure. A new dynamic TDD boundary decision method, which takes advantage of the fixed TDD boundary method and the conventional TDD boundary method, is proposed in this paper. Simulation studies reveal that the proposed method gives excellent performances regardless the traffic volume and traffic load.
