Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have obtained some intriguing knowledge about developed thermal turbulence, by a new trial of applying the ultrasonic velocimetry to measurements of the velocity field in thermal turbulence. We report here the results obtained in recent years; the shape and dynamical behavior of the mean flow which emerges spontaneously in hard turbulence, the calculation of the energy spectrum to be compared with the theoretical prediction without the use of Taylor's hypothesis, which is the first outcome in the world, and the boundary behaviors such as the reversal of vertical mean velocity profiles.
