Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes new fast algorithms for the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) employing Rough comparison Winner-Takes-All (RWTA) and batch learning, and also describes its digital hardware architecture. In the RWTA algorithm, the winner unit is roughly assigned in early learning stage and strictly done in later learning stage, respectively. The RWTA can reduce the number of clocks for learning. In addition, the pipeline processing is possible by using the batch learning. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can realize high speed calculation of the SOM hardware.
