Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to discuss an expected performance and an application of all-optical (3R/ 2R) regenerators, we calculated a distribution of optical signal intensity (probability density) before and after a signal regeneration with an isolated interferometric all-optical switch or cascaded ones by using a simplified gate-function model. As a result, we have shown the compensation effect for insufficient nonlinear-phase-shift (Δφ) with cascaded two optical switches, the saturation effect of a bit-error with cascaded several all-optical regenerators (repeaters), generation of bit-errors due to the gap between the optimum signal-decision threshold level and the real decision threshold level which depends on various Δφ, and suitable schemes of all-optical regenerator for each transmission distance.
