Abstract(in English) | We numerically analyze characteristics of all-optical ultra-fast 3R regenerators employing the cascade of second harmonic generation (SHG) and difference frequency mixing (DFM) in the quasi-phase matched (QPM) lithium niobate (LN) device. In the analyses, we show that the QPM-SHG/DFM-LN device has a limiter characteristic. This feature is induced by the large group-velocity mismatch between the fundamental and second harmonic pulses. All-optical ultra-fast 3R operation at the bit rate of 100 Gbit/s can be expected by using a 2-cm-long waveguide device with the peak power of the input signal pulse as small as 1 W. |
