Abstract(in English) | Span length extension of optical fiber transmission system using remotely pumped optical amplification was investigated. We proposed a modified configuration of amplification module having by-pass circuit for opposite-direction signal in order to increase the flexibility of transmission line and thus decrease its cost. Small-size modules having proposed configuration were fabricated with photonic crystals. We also experimentally confirmed the effectiveness of the transmission line using remotely pumped optical amplification and bi-directional transmission, for small- or medium-capacity transmission systems. |
