Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Polymer thin films were prepared by ionization-assisted deposition (IAD) of acrylate monomer having carbazole unit. Furthermore, the IAD of carbazole monomer was performed on substrates that bare a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of polymerization initiator. The use of initiator SAM enabled to form thermally stable polymeric thin films that were chemically bound to the substrate surface. This method was applied to prepare organic EL devices by depositing carbazole or tetraphenyldiaminobiphenyl monomers on ITO substrates treated with initiator SAM. It was found that the combination of initiator SAM and IAD substantially improves the luminescence characteristics of the devices.
