Dependence on Eu concentration for luminescent properties of SrGa_2S_4 thin film phosphors

Abstract(in English) The thin film phosphors for field emission display have been studied. The SrGa_2S_4 thin films activated with Eu were prepares by electron beam (EB) deposition technique. To improve the luminescent properties of SrGa_2S_4 : Eu thin films the Eu concentration was changed between 2 to 5 when the SrS pellets were prepared. The substrate temperature was kept at 450℃ during the deposition process and after that the films were annealed at 750℃ for 30 min in H_2S atmosphere. PL and CL spectra showed green emission with a peak at 530nm. The CL luminance of 2580cd/m^2 and CIE color coordinates of (0.2634, 0.6804), respectively, were obtained under excitation with 3kV and 60μA/cm^2. It was shown that the intensity became stronger with increase of the Eu concentration. Therefore, the improvement of luminance is a result of supply of enough Eu to promote of the formation of the emission center.
