Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new objective noise evaluation method has been already proposed based on a pertinent application of a cooperative human vision model which can theoretically simulate accommodative responses and various kinds of perceptual responses, and has been successfully applied to noise evaluation for digital color copying machines. In this report, in order to examine the generality of the evaluation method, it is applied to noise evaluation for patch images (single-colored and multi-colored monochrome images) output from a color ink-jet printer. Consequently, the following results were obtained; (1) the objective noise value decreased with an increase in the resolution of the printer; (2) the objective noise value for multi-colored images became much larger than that for single-colored images; (3) the objective noise values correlated closely with the psychological image noise scores (correlation coefficient > 0.95). These results suggest that the evaluation method has a generality in evaluating image noise.
