Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The focus of research on wireless communications in now on the so-called Fourth generation (4G) systems. A prominent feature of these systems is the shift from Circuit Switched to fully Packet Switched systems. For such future mobile communication networks, High-Speed Down link Packet Access (HSDPA) has been proposed. In HSDPA, several users share a special high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH). In order to provide high transmission rate and traffic capacity, higher frequency bands are used, which cause higher propagation loss. Therefore, the cell size becomes smaller and more base stations (BSs) are needed resulting in high infrastructure cost. In order to solve these problems, several multi-hop systems have been proposed. Multi-hop Radio Access Cellular (MRAC) is a promising system which exploits not only base stations but also hop stations (HSs) operating as repeater stations. In this paper, we propose a multi-hop mobile system which is based on the MRAC model and exploits adaptive modulation of HSDPA and regenerating fixed HSs. The addition of HSs adds a second tier of server/queue to the 4G packet switched network, further affecting throughput/delay behavior. Finally, the effectivity and performance of the system obtained by using computer simulation are presented and discussed.
