Performance Improvement of Partial Feedback Based Orthogonal STBC

Abstract(in English) Recently, Partial Feedback Orthogonal Space-Time Block Coding (PF-OSTBC) with feedback based on the concept of the group-coherent codes has been proposed. PF-OSTBC can achieve the full diversity advantage from arbitrary m transmit antennas (Tx) at the full rate by using p OSTBC and Feedback Information(FBI) p-1 bit(s) per flame. PF-OSTBC can also offer the array gain in addition to the diversity gain, and have better Bit Error Rate (BER) than OSTBC with mpTx. In the past research, PF-OSTBC that consists of two Alamouti OSTBCs (p=2) and needs FBI=1 bit has been proposed. PF-OSTBC is the scheme that performs transmit control to enlarge the array gain and is referred to as PF-OSTBC (CC: Code Control). PF-OSTBC (AC: Antenna Control) that performs transmit control of each antenna and PF-OSTBC (PC) that performs phase control have also been proposed. However, the performances of these PF-OSTBCs have not been shown. In this report, we evaluate PF-OSTBCS with Alamouti and Tarokh OSTBC, respectively. First we evaluate both PF-OSTBCs(AC/ PC) that achieve good BER, although they need more FBI than PF-OSTBC(CC). Second, we focus on the problem that the array gain of the conventional PF-OSTBC is decreased when p≧3, and propose PF-OSTBC(ASC: Antenna Selection and Control) that can provide a large array gain.
