Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The body-of-revolution finite-difference time-domain method is used for the analysis of a cylindrical dielectric rod antenna fed by a metallic waveguide. To excite the guided mode wave of the rod with high efficiency, we first design a horn launcher placed at the feed end. Consideration is next given to the essential property of the guided mode wave propagating along a tapered rod. It is revealed that smooth mode-conversion in the tapered rod contributes to the expansion of the equiphase region in a terminal aperture and to the increase in the gain.
