Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is necesary for precise measurements with atmospheric radars to effectively suppress strong undesired echoes from hard targets such as mountains. We develop an adaptive sidelobe suppression system consisting of a receiving array surrounding the main antenna of a large phased array radar. While Directionally Constrained Minimum Power (DCMP) algorithm is effective for adaptive suppression of clutter echoes, it often alters the entire beam pattern of the main antenna. Here we propose a new algorithm, which extends DCMP by introducing another constraint on the weight of the receiving array so that the main beam pattern of the radar is conserved.
