A Case Study of Power Estimation of MP3 Decoder

Abstract(in English) We have done experiments on dynamic power estimation for MP3 hardware decoder. Focusing on characteristic parameters of MP3 stream data, we have investigated relationship between those parameters and dynamic power consumed by the module of IMDCT (Inverse MDCT). We have experiments on "minimum/maximum data", "ratio of bigvalues.part", "average entropy", and "ratio of non-zero samples". As a result, "ratio of non-zero samples" is the most suitable characteristic parameter for dynamic power estimation.
