抄録(英) DVB-S2, the second-generation DVB specification for broadband satellite applications, has been evolved from the first generation DVB-S standard by including additional features such as more powerful LDPC coding and high-order modulation scheme to adaptability. ETRI in Korea has been developing an advanced new broadband satellite communication and broadcasting convergence system (BcSAT) based on cutting-edge DVB-S2 standard with the return channel via satellite-based DVB-RCS since March 2004. This system will be enable to deliver a significantly higher data rate, at least 35% in a given transponder bandwidth than the current DVB-S standard. This system will provide the broadband satellite applications such as the Broadcast Services(BS) for Digital Television (including HDTV), Interactive Services (IS) including Internet access, Data content distribution and Internet trunking, and Digital TV contribution and Satellite News Gathering Services. This system will provide the hierarchical satellite broadcasting services which transmit the audio and video streams separately with the different error protection levels.
