Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As a study on telecommunication service quality degradation due to burst errors, this report proposes a method for classifying burst error mode with multiple error rate thresholds and for determining both the beginning and ending times of burst error duration. It discusses how the proposed method characterizes the burst errors, and shows that the performance parameters of the classified burst error mode such as stationary probability, transition probability, and average burst length are calculated by considering bit-error pattern. It also shows that the state transition model widely used could be applied to describe or evaluate the performance parameters.
