Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In telecommunication networks, time synchronization is important because of its wide application areas. It is particularly valuable to establish a reliable time synchronization technique on the Ethernet because the Ethnet is the most popular data transmission technology. For accurate synchronization on the Ethernet, it is essential to reduce delay variation of messages. Therefore, this paper first describes a Gb/s Ethernet implementation of preemptive priority queueing, which greatly reduces message delay variation. On the basis of the technique, the paper proposes a time synchronization technique implemented in the lower protocol layer on the hardware basis. The effectiveness of the proposed method was confirmed through experiments.
