Selection of Factoring Events for Calculating Top Event Probability of FT

Abstract(in English) A conventional Inclusion-Exclusion method is a well known method to calculate exact top-event probabilities of fault trees with repeated events after determination of minimal cut sets. However, according as the scale of the fault tree becomes larger, applying this method becomes more complex and time consuming. In [11], to overcome this difficulty, we proposed a recursive algorithm to calculate exact top-event probabilities directly, without reference to minimal cut sets. The algorithm can reduce the computation time of fault trees with repeated events by means of modularization and factoring. It is very important to decide which repeated events should be chosen for factoring in the algorithm. [11] proposed a methods to choose factoring events. However the effectiveness of the selection method has not been confirmed. In this paper, we propose other two selection methods and confirm the effectiveness of the three selection methods by way of numerical examples.
