Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The V-I characteristics of breaking arcs between electrical contacts are investigated. Materials of the contact pairs are Au, Ag, Cu, Ni and Pt. The time variations of arc Voltage, arc current and gap length are measured, simultaneously. The result shows that V-I characteristics are on straight lines in the experimental conditions that are the arc voltage is smaller than 40V and the arc current is ranging from 3A to 8A. For the case of Au and Ag electric contacts, each individual V-I characteristic is presented by Holm. It is found that our experimental results almost agree with Holm's V-I characteristics for Au and Ag electric contacts.
