Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have measured MEG response while subjects were reading Japanese complex sentences, which were presented visually phrase-by-phrase. The sentences consisted of subject-, object-, and verb-phrases, constituting the main clause and subordinate clause. MEG responses were recorded for each phrase, and the reconstruction of distributed current sources that were constrained on the cortex surface was performed using a current density analysis (Minimum L1 Norm reconstruction). In the result, after the activities of visual area were reduced, main activities occurred in wide areas of the prefrontal, frontal, temporal, parietal and occipital regions. When subjects read a sentence with displacement, the obtained results indicated a strong activation especially in the motor region of the left hemisphere, which suggests the involvement of the motor activity in processing the displaced sentence without overt speech.
