Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To improve the reliability and the processing time, the partial template method was applied to the personal identification using a transillumination image of a finger. An algorithm was developed to automatically select appropriate partial templates from some images of the same finger. The effectiveness of the proposed technique was examined in the identification using the finger images obtained with the identification system commercially available. In the stranger-identification of 600 images and the self-identification of 50 images, 100% correct identification was performed. To verify the usefulness of the proposed technique, the vulnerability against the artifacts in a finger image and the computation load were evaluated. With the proposed technique, we could handle the problem of finger rotation, and the computation load was reduced less than half.
