Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper shows design examples and their experimental verification of a waveguide filter consisting of arbitrarily-shaped frequency selective surfaces (FSS) as resonators and quarter-wavelength waveguide sections as inverters. In the present design method, the shape of each FSS is designed by a genetic algorithm (GA) so that the resonant curve of the FSS can be fitted to that obtained from an equivalent-circuit approach. As design examples, we present two waveguide filters with three-layer FSSs having four and six attenuation poles at both sides of the passband, respectively. The effectiveness of the designed filters is proved by good agreement between the calculated and the measured results. Also, we confirm that the insertion loss observed at the passband in the experiments is mainly caused by loss of a dielectric for supporting the FSSs.
