Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is becoming an important issue to make electromagnetic dosimetry in children due to their increasing use of portable telephones proliferating in our daily life. In this paper, we therefore investigated the age dependence of dielectric properties for living biological tissue. Based on Lichtenecker's exponential law, at first we derived an empirical formula for the complex permittivity of various tissues as a function of the total body water (TBW). We then measured the frequency characteristics of the dielectric properties for forearms of 50 human subjects aged from 1.5 years old to 80 years old. As a result, we found that the measured results exhibited a compound dielectric properties including skin tissue, while they fell within the estimated ones of skin and 2/3 muscle tissues for all the subjects. Moreover, it was found that the age dependence of dielectric properties is small contrary to expectations, and there is no rapid increase in dielectric properties even at 1.5 years old.
