| Abstract(in English) | This article introduces technologies and use cases of "OSGi Service Platform", that has been standardized in OSGi (Open Service Gateway Initiative) Alliance. In OSGi, functions of network appliances, including home gateway, car, cellular phone, etc., consist on the software components called "bundle". If the operator/user wants to install new functionalities to the appliance, to customize or to fix the bug, new bundles can be downloaded and activated via network. Since the OSGi service platform is the multipurpose and horizontal technology, it could be used in various business areas, including home automation, home security, ubiquitous application, cellular phone, energy saving, health care, telematics or education. This article shows the abstract of the OSGi technologies and standardization topics, use cases and the activities in OSGi Users' Forum Japan that was established in last year. |
