Abstract(in English) In recent years, researches and develops on ITS are carried out to solve many problems in road traffic. IVC (Inter-Vehicle Communications) is the direct wireless communications between nearby vehicles without any base stations. IVC is considered as preferable communication technology to realize the next generation ITS. This paper deals with VCASS (Vehicular-Collision Avoidance Support System) on the base of IVC. In this system, each vehicle gets the location information and the velocity vector by GPS. Then they grasp the relative position by exchanging GPS information via wireless communications. As a result, the system indicates the warning to drivers if there is serious danger for the collision. It aims to prevent the accident beforehand. We have installed personal computers, the telecommunication apparatus, GPS, gyro sensor (acceleration sensor and azimuth sensor) on experimental vehicles, and verified the effectiveness of the system in the assumed road environments.
