Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) According to the advanced computer network technology, network applications with high bandwidth data transmission have become available. Multimedia applications with not only conventional text data but also multimedia data such as sound, voice, picture and movie are required to be developed, e.g. CSCW for colaboration activities based on LANs (local-area networks) such as Ethernet. Since multiple NICs (network interfaces) are connected and bandwidth management is based on CSMA/CD, enouch bandwidth is not provided to the applications due to contention and collision. By using switching hubs, multiple packets may be transmitted independently, i.e. without contention and collision, even in a LAN and high bandwidth may be achieved. In this paper, in order to realize high bandwith communication in Ethernet LAN, we design an extended ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) and the mechanism is implemented by modifying LINUX kernel.
