Checking the feasibility of applying ECC on algebraic curves to HDD

Abstract(in English) In order to correct errors caused by HDD effectively, we compare the performance of efficient error correcting codes on algebraic curves such as Hermitian codes over GF(2^8), elliptic codes over GF(2^9) and Fermat codes over GF(2^<10>) with that of conventional RS codes. Moreover, we propose decoding algorithms such as parallel decoding using 2 dimensional systolic array and serial decoding without unknown syndrome determination.
