Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) MnPt_3 and CrPt_3 ordered alloy films, exhibiting large Kerr rotations around 1 deg at room temperature, have been analyzed by using X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) to investigate the origin of their perpendicular magnetic anisotropies. /2 of transition metal elements, such as Mn and Cr, was found to strongly correlate with the perpendicular anisotropy, and the anisotropy was found to be qualitatively explained by the /2 and lattice distortion. The element specific domain configuration of a CoFeB/MnIr exchange bilayer was studied by photoemission electron microscopy using XMCD. Irregular shaped domain structure of ~ 300 nm width was imaged for the CoFeB layer. Uncompensated Mn spins at the CoFeB/MnIr interface with an antiferromagnetic coupling between the Mn and the Co magnetic moments could be studied.
