Abstract(in English) We have studied the free viewpoint video, which is expected to be a next-generation visual application. In this paper, we propose a video representation format that is suitable for broadcast type video distribution. In the broadcast distribution, receiver has to receive video data that covers all viewpoints. With developing the free viewpoint video extending multiple view videos, we need huge bandwidth to transmit video data, therefore we expect efficient video compression and communication technologies. We have proposed a two-layer transmission method as a solution, in which video data is transformed into a base layer and an enhancement layer. A base layer which contains temporally low sub band (low frame rate) pictures of all viewpoints is always transmitted, and an enhancement layer which contains all the other video information for generation of high-quality synthesis picture (full frame rate) is transmitted in the rest of bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a coding method of such sub band pictures, exploiting an Open-Loop MCTF (motion compensated temporal filtering) to achieve high coding efficiency. Especially, our proposed method is designed to improve coding efficiency by applying Open-Loop DCIF that is the same scheme as Open-Loop MCTF for disparity compensation, as well as Open-Loop MCTF for motion compensation.
