Abstract(in English) | In this report, practical forward/return physical channel configurations is proposed to establish the scalability up to high speed transmission rate and large system capacity for a mobile satellite communications system. These configurations with an adaptive modulation scheme realize to enhance radio-resource-control flexibility and effectiveness. The forward link configuration, from a satellite base station to mobile stations, is a multi-carrier transmission system using OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) topology expanded to multi-beam distribution. In the system, a high speed TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) channel can handle various transmission rates flexibly. This configuration is also able to allocate resource flexibly among the beams since the number of sub-carriers of each beam is allocated adaptively. The physical channel configuration of the return link, from the mobile stations to the satellite base station, is FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access) system with multiple transmission rates on a single carrier. This configuration establishes effective allocation of bandwidth and effective transmission performance of user terminals. |
