Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Broadcasting satellite services with sensation of reality, such as Super Hi-Vision (ultra high-definition wide-screen system) and three-dimensional HDTV are expected to be delivered using the frequency band from 21.4 to 22.0 GHz. One of the major technical difficulties in using this frequency band is to overcome large rain attenuation. By using the array antenna technique, in which the radiation pattern can be changed adaptively to transmit high e.i.r.p. only in heavy rain areas while the e.i.r.p. for the clear sky area remains low, required satellite payload power can be reduced. In this report, the degradations ofC/N due to the rain attenuation are explained first and then the method for the compensation of the radiation pattern by using the array antenna is shown. Next, the relationship between the degradation of C/N and the required pfd is examined by using the rain attenuation of 0.1% in the year on the basis of the R0.01 rainfall rate at the 80 cities included in the whole of Japan. Finally, the transmission power are shown for the RF bandwidth of200MHz and 300MHz with the modulation of QPSK(1/2), QPSK(3/4) and TC8PSK. It is shown that 1.4kW-array feeder for the bandwidth of 200MHz and 2. 1 kW-array feeder for the bandwidth of 300MHz are required to compensate for the C/N degradation of all 80 cities by using boosted beam with a high gain when the modulation method of QPSK(3/4) is used. |
